Technician Jobs

Becoming a certified technician at one of the nation's many technical schools is one of the smartest career moves you will ever make. Many industries depend on their technicians to fill in service gaps and repair equipment. There are all kinds of technicians in all different industries.

Mechanical technician jobs - If you're good with tools and like to fix things, this category will most likely fit your career goals. These technician jobs are always in demand and are found in all kinds of industries, including automotives and aviation. Air and heat technicians are also good examples - companies across the country employ technical teams to repair their central air conditioning and heating systems. Mechanical technicians often wear tool belts and drive trucks loaded down with equipment and supplies.

Medical technician jobs - By 2030, the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that 70 million Americans will be 65 or older, resulting in an increased need for skilled medical technicians. Trained medical technicians perform many essential tasks, such as assisting with surgery, in the pharmacy, and with patient care. People in medical technician jobs work in hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, and assisted living centers, and spend most of their time wearing scrubs.

Computer technician jobs - Computer technicians know computers inside and out. They can fix both hardware and software problems, network computers together across a home or company, or connect computers to other kinds of technology. They provide technical support, systems maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Computer technicians work in all kinds of fields - the scientific, professional and technical services industries; financial institutions; government agencies; administrative and support services; telecommunications companies; and many others. Because almost every business and organization owns computers and uses them for basic daily functions, computer technicians continue to be in high demand.

Computer technicians sometimes wear special shoe covers that prevent the build-up of static electricity, and most wear a company uniform.
